Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, at Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up alongside 12 other kids. The vivid imagination of her mother was a great way to get away from the pressures of daily life. Before learning how to read and write Dolly Parton was composing her own songs. Her first guitar was given to her at the age of eighteen. She began singing in an Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. The first album she recorded was during the same year on Gold Band Records, a small independent label. While she was popular in the local scene while she was at the high school years, her ambitions were bigger. She relocated to Nashville following her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show required a new singer at around the time. Parton accepted the role in the year 1966. She was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her solo songs like Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton's song, I Will Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), hit the No. number 1 position after the duo split. The first time it made it to the top spot was in 1974.
